In this week’s episode of Reflective Fridays, I talk about getting out of your own way and how to gain momentum. Have you ever had a time when you felt stuck? When you felt you were spinning your wheels? I know I have so I wanted to share a few thoughts of what I do to get ‘unstuck’ and to get out of my ruts.

We all go through times in our lives when it’s hard to either keep or gain momentum. While it can be a real challenge at times, it’s not impossible.

Three (3) things I do to help me break out of my rut [and these are tips I share with clients, too] include:

  1. Reaching out to a friend or colleague

While you are unique your situation may not be. What I mean by that is there is probably someone who has felt that way before, has been in a similar situation, etc. So by asking for help or sharing your story, you may just be surprised at what you find out – and about the community that is there to support you.

2.  Acknowledging your accomplishments

Far too often, we focus on what we are not doing or have not done. When, instead, we need to think about and focus on what we have done. While our road may be a long and windy one – it is ours! And by taking the time to think about your accomplishments, it not only brings a smile to your face but it puts your brain in a more positive mindset. Which leads to #3…

3.  Mapping out your next destination

Now that you realize you are not alone and that yes, you have some great accomplishments, you can now gain momentum to move forward – in whichever direction you choose.

So, this week’s challenge: What do you do to help yourself gain momentum?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s episode of Reflective Fridays and don’t forget to start and end every day with a SMILE!
