I realize this is a subject that gets a lot of press – happiness. How can we be happier? How can we bring happiness into our lives. I read it and I hear it from my coaching clients and in my Workshops.

But here’s the thing – I don’t do ‘happy.’ I strive for things I enjoy, that bring me fulfillment. To some this sounds the same but I beg to differ.

I looked up the definition of “Happy” and I found: feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

I did the same for enjoyment and found: the state or process of taking pleasure in something.

And lastly, fulfillment: satisfaction or happiness as a result of fully developing one’s abilities or character AND the achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted [I especially love this last definition because it includes ACHIEVEMENT and DESIRE!]

So, maybe it’s not obvious but I choose to live for enjoyment and fulfillment because they are not only more active words but are more expressive and more representative of what I’m looking for in my life, namely:
– Process
– Taking pleasure in something
– Achievement
– Desire

What are your thoughts on Happiness vs. Enjoyment vs. Fulfillment? I would love to hear your take on it and your thoughts!
