How many decisions have you made today? It’s actually amazing, when you stop to think about it, how many hundreds and probably thousands of decisions you make each and every day. Some would say you make approximately 35,000 decisions per day! Click here to read the article.

It is a big challenge for many of us (myself included!) to make not only good but quicker decisions. People like the ones I mentioned above have a ‘uniform’ of sorts in that they wear similar clothes every day so they take away the need to decide on what to wear. And while you may think that’s a silly or simple example, we have limited brain power and believe it or not, each decision we make absorbs fuel from our brain tank. And thereby, the less decisions we need to make, the more fuel we have for other things.

I shared an article with my Women’s Biz Accelerator group last week and it gave some tips on what you can do on Sunday to prepare for the week. As many of you know, I like to use Sundays as my strategy day and prep day for the week. Click here for the article written on Blair Blogs. While all of them may not be applicable, one that resonated with almost everybody was #3: Pick out gym clothes (or other specific outfits) for the entire week and pack them all. Now before you think I’m too crazy, think back to a morning when you were getting things ready and wanted to plan a trip to the gym, walk at lunch or run? Not only would you have to remember to pack clothes but what if you were out of gym shorts or socks, i.e., the clothes you needed were in the dirty laundry and when you go to look for your sneakers but they aren’t where you thought they would be…? I could go on but I know that I have been there – and you may have, too. But the act of prepping and packing clothes ahead of time saves time and brain power. Go back to the same situation and you want to go to the gym – all you have to do is grab the bag of clothes and go!
There are other areas of your life where you can practice this but this example shows that some prep time and thoughtfulness can save time and energy and brain power elsewhere.

So, why not free up that power for better and faster decisions? And having a roadmap for decision making can help you to make those better decisions in less time!
