Today is a day where I truly practiced what I preach [shouldn’t we all do that more often!]

Last Friday I launched my 5-Day Living Intentionally Challenge and today was the last day. Now, years ago (okay, up to about 3 years ago) I would have crossed it off my list and then go straight to the next thing. I wouldn’t take time to review what went well, what didn’t work, etc. I would not have taken a few moments to celebrate that not only did I make it through the Challenge but people registered and participated.

How many of you have been there – maybe even experiencing this today? Where you have done something that in your mind you are saying:

This isn’t that big of a deal.

I was expected to do that.

Anyone could have done that.

Of course I did that – I always do!

Does any of that sound familiar? For me, while each and every one of these is familiar (and almost daily chants as I could not take a compliment….) that was years ago…and this is today…

Far too often, we get so busy running around looking for the next thing and don’t take a minute to celebrate ourselves and to appreciate what we do on a given day. Heck, even if I didn’t have this Challenge I can still celebrate the time I share with my sons in the morning before they get on the bus to school and be fulfilled that they get on the bus with a smile on their faces. And, actually, we all know it’s taking the small steps that lead us on our road, our defined path…

But that was years ago…and this is today…

After sending the final email and sharing a post with the private Facebook group, I sat – and smiled. I took a couple of deep breaths and thought about what had just happened over the past 5 days:

  • I made 4 videos, with actual content not just saying hello and please read my email. I put effort into thinking about them, developing the content and sharing it with the audience.
  • With the help of my amazing assistant, Katie, we developed downloadable 5 pieces of downloadable content. Content that can be used on a daily basis.
  • People signed up!
  • People participated and contributed to the group!
  • I learned a whole heck of a lot

Honestly, this experience was very humbling. You know when you have an idea and know the content and share it with others – and then have them point out and discuss take-aways that you never thought of…? The personal emails I received were awesome, too.

Having said all of that, it was by no means perfect and there are definite improvements I can make [stay tuned as I’m going to offer one more free Challenge before charging for the course]. Not everyone that registered participated in each day; my videos were not seen by everyone because some haven’t clicked to watch them yet; a majority of people who registered did not join the Facebook group, etc. I could go on and on about things I want to re-do, update or change. But today, right now, for a few minutes, I am going to celebrate my small win.

So, in one way, all of this put together is a big win. But today, I am celebrating the small win of making it to the finish line and being pleased with the content.

And I encourage you to do the same – celebrate yourself! Celebrate a small win today! Because as Coach John Wooden always said:

“It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.”
